Cheap Auto Darkening Welding Helmets

Not all automatic darkening welding helmets are expensive, believe me there are some automatic welding helmets that you can own at a cheap and affordable price. Just because you want to own a helmet of great quality doesn’t mean that you have to shell out thousands of hard earned dollars for it. We took the liberty to check out Amazon for you. A lot of people enjoy shopping here because it is easier and the product you purchased gets delivered to your doorstep. That’s very convenient right?

Anyway, we hope that you like our pick for today!

  1. ANTRA AH6-260-0000 Solar Power Auto Darkening Welding HelmetI must mention that this helmet is the number one in the welding helmets category. The original price of this helmet was at 79.99 US DOLLARS, but at Amazon, you can purchase this for only 45.95 US DOLLARS. Sadly, because this order doesn’t reach the Amazon cut off of 49 US DOLLARS, you won’t be able to avail of the free shipping. A solution to this would be to find another product to buy (as long as you can reach the total of 49 US DOLLARS) or find a friend who wants to purchase a welding helmet too.

This helmet is a great companion if you are doing Arc Welding, TIG Welding, MIG Welding, and even Plasma Applications with Grinding Feature. It comes with a large viewing size of 3.86″ x 1.78″ with 4 premium sensors. In terms of protection, you can count on this helmet to keep UV and IR radiation away from you in an event of an electric failure. As you work, the helmet will continually adjust to the changes in your environment. And if you need to work for extended periods of time, then no problem because this helmet is very light! You see, the helmet is made from high impact polyimide Nylon.

Here is a customer’s review about it:

“I am updating this review from 2 stars to 4 (would definitely be 5 if the first unit had worked as well as this new one) . After learning of my problem the manufacture promptly offered to replace my faulty shade for free. The new unit arrived yesterday and after trying it out it seems to work as intended. I can now set the sensitivity to where I can look directly at the shop lights without the unit darkening. I’m very pleased with this helmet now, and after only a couple of uses it is my new favorite. I like how the grind setting is external making adjustment easy while wearing it. The response time to unshade is quicker than my other helmet with them both set to their quickest time. Below is my initial review, if you experience the same problem please contact the manufacture and they will take care of it quickly:

I love everything about this product except for the fact that it auto-darkens when it is not supposed to. I’ve been using another auto darkening helmet for some time now which works fine, and i’m fully capable of understanding how to adjust the sensitivity. This helmet has four sensors, two of which on mine are hyper sensitive (bad resistor or something of the sort). Standing at my welding table with the room lights on and looking down at the work piece this thing auto darkens (when not welding) even with the sensitivity set to min (or max, I tried both in case I was interpreting incorrectly). Being curious I covered different sensors and found that two of them were overly sensitive. I’ll likely return the product for a replacement because I know I would love it if it worked correctly, but wanted to post this review to caution others who may experience the same problem and not realize that something is wrong. Happy welding!” – Bob Courtney

  2. Jackson Safety W40 Insight Variable Auto Darkening Welding HelmetAlthough this product may be a little higher when it comes to price than the first helmet, but the quality is good. This helmet is being sold for 139.00 US DOLLARS, and it comes with a free shipping which is great. With this helmet, you will be able to have a variable shade of 9-13, a wide viewing area of 3.93 ” x 2.36 “. The helmet is also complete with sensitivity and delay adjustments. You can trust this helmet to never fail you and that can be attributed to the four independent auto dimming sensors and easy to use digital controls.

You can choose from the grind and weld modes of the helmet and use it for MIG Welding, TIG Welding, and ARC Welding. I have to say that this helmet is also compatible with HLX100 and HSL 100 shells.

And if you need a peace of mind for the compliance, this helmet meets ANSI Z87.1 + 2010 standards and as well as CSA compliant.

Here is a customer’s review about it:

“I’ve got six welding helmets, five of which are Jackson. I normally purchase helmets at a local store so I could test them out first, but this one I got without viewing first, and so far I’m very impressed. This one is more mid-range, which I plan to keep in my van… I have other helmets that range from a fraction of the price of this helmet to more then double.

For the price, it’s an excellent helmet… auto-dimming works great. I’ve used it for nearly two hours the first day I got it, and it worked perfectly. Very comfortable… quickly and easily readjusts to any size needed, and various positions. The display below the lens is very nice, showing all the settings in one glance.

Overall, this is a very comfortable helmet and works well, however it’s not my favorite among the Jackson helmets I own. First, the shell of the helmet is thinner and more flexible then any helmet I’ve owned. At first, I wasn’t sure if this was a pro or a con, and during normal usage, I didn’t notice the flexibility at all. However, at all other times such as picking it up, putting it on, carrying it, etc, I really don’t like the flimsy feel of it. It doesn’t affect the function of the helmet and is more of a personally preference, but it makes the helmet feel cheap.

Second, the display under the lens cannot be seen at a steep angle above the display… this means I can’t see the display without lifting the helmet up, despite having a nice backlight on it. If they angled it just a bit, it would have been fine. Again, a minor complain since I don’t deal with the display that often.

Overall, a couple of minor complaints don’t distract from the fact that this is an exceptional helmet. Works perfectly, and very adjustable.” – Steve

The average rating of this helmet is currently at 4.7 stars out of 5 stars.
