•  Before beginning to weld, make sure that your Personal Protective Equipment are complete, and are working as they should be working. Double check every thing, especially your helmet.

•  Also prepare or check the area of where you will be welding. Make sure that there’s no loose wires, or tubes that are leaking. Be sure that the material you are going to weld is clean and free of dust, rust, etc. It may not seem like it but these factors can contribute to the quality of your weld.

1.) Keep your electrodes clean and dry. It would be best if you are able to follow the instructions of the manufacturer.

2.) If you are going to be welding a fillet, the leg of your weld should be equal to the thickness of the parts welded.

3.) When it comes to amperage control, it would be the best choice if you could first determine the recommended amp range for your electrode type and diameter. And when you do, that’s the time when you can pick an amperage that is within range. Make sure that it is based on the thickness of your metal.

4.) When it comes to penetration, remember that DCEN has the least penetration while AC has the medium. What has the most penetration? That would be DCEP.
